AERODROME RESCUE AND FIRE SERVICE

The Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) is managed by the Senior Aerodrome Fire Officer - Mr Rob Webster. In addition to overseeing the mandatory training exercises required to ensure that all the firefighters in the Redhill ARFFS remain competent Rob also organises courses flight crew fire safety training.

ARFFS CATEGORY

The ARFFS is Category A2/H2. The largest helicopter regularly using the Aerodrome is A169 and the largest fixed-wing aircraft is BE20.

APPLIANCES

The ARFFS operates two appliances; a Bremach X4 60 4x4 (Fire 1) which carries 1200 litres of water and 160 litres AFFF foam, secondary media, hand rescue tools, portable lighting and small hydraulic operated rescue equipment. Additional reserve equipment is kept on station which includes heavy hydraulic rescue tools and other associated equipment. The second vehicle is a Toyota Hi Lux Rapid Intervention vehicle (Fire 2) which carries 500 litres of water and 35 litres of AFFF premix foam, secondary media, hand rescue tools, portable lighting and small hydraulic operated rescue equipment.

All appliances and equipment are owned by Redhill Aerodrome Ltd.
