New Roof for Hangar 9
11 Aug 2025
After sitting atop our Hangar 9 for around 90 years, the roof has finally been replaced. The hangar built sometime between 1933 and 1937 was the first structure on the airfield and the original corrugated concrete board roof was starting to show it's age and some structural weakness. In early 2025 we took the decision to replace the roof entirely.
The project contractors, Advanced Roofing Services, have over the past 10 weeks, supplied and fixed a ultra-modern composite panel system over an area of nearly 200m2. The new roof also covers our 'Hangar 9 Cafe', further enhancing the recent refurbishments of this increasingly popular establishment.
Hangar 9 has now re-opened as a managed hangar for a variety of privately owned aircraft.

Trainee ATCO Brenna Price-Walker Earns her Licence
07 Jul 2026
Redhill Aerodrome would like to congratulate Brenna Price-Walker on passing her ATC exams and officially earning her Air Traffic Controller Licence.
After 15 months of intense classroom and on the job training, Brenna has now become a fully operational member of our experienced air traffic controller team and has already commenced her duties at the aerodrome. At a time when there are ongoing concerns in the UK about recruitment, retirements, and maintaining enough qualified controllers as flight demand grows, it is reassuring that we have strenghtened our team with a young committed recruit. One reason recruitment is so important is that becoming an air traffic controller is difficult and time-consuming. Training can take several years, and not everyone who starts training qualifies, so replacing retirees isn't quick. Brenna also becomes our first female controller.
