Rescue and Fire Fighting Service

AERODROME CATEGORY

The RFFS is Category H1/Cat1 with the capability to go to Category H2/Cat2 when required. The largest helicopter regularly using the Aerodrome is S61N. The RFFS has two Range Rover TCAR 2 6x6 Rapid Intervention vehicles which have light cutting equipment and one Domestic / Rescue Tender which has heavy cutting equipment, portable lighting and further ancillary rescue equipment. The RFFS vehicles are owned by Redhill Aerodrome Limited and crewed by personnel from London Helicopter Centres.

AERODROME FIRE SERVICE

The RFFS is led by Mr Stuart Read the Senior Aerodrome Fire Officer
(Station Commander).

In addition to overseeing the mandatory training exercises required to
ensure that all the firefighters in the Redhill AFS remain competent, Stuart
also organises courses, in conjunction with Park lodge International in
Vehicle Fire Investigation as well as holding joint training exercises with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
